Sentarum

Sentarum is a municipality located in the province of Bengkulu on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. It is situated about 45 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital, Bengkulu City. The municipality covers a total area of approximately 1,349 square kilometers.

The terrain in Sentarum is generally dominated by lowland forests and marshland, with the Sentarum Kanasi River flowing through the area. The municipality is known for its rich natural resources, including oil and gas. Petroleum activities have been taking place in the area since the 1970s. The agriculture sector is also a significant contributor to the local economy, with crops such as rice, rubber, and coconut being grown in the area.

As of the 2020 census, the population of Sentarum was approximately 86,000 people. The official language spoken in the area is Indonesian, but some of the local inhabitants also speak the Rejang language. Sentarum is predominantly a rural area, with the majority of the population engaged in agriculture and related activities.

The municipality has a relatively high level of economic development compared to other areas in the province of Bengkulu. The Oil and Gas Energy Security Fund (MSDFS) has been crucial in promoting the development of the oil and gas sector in Sentarum. The area has seen significant investment in infrastructure, including roads and communication networks. These developments have contributed to a growing economy and improved living standards for the local population.

Sentarum is also known for its rich cultural heritage, with the local community preserving traditional customs and languages.
