Seere

Seere (also spelled Seir, Seire, or Seereh) is a figure in Western occultism, listed as one of the 72 demonic spirits in the Ars Goetia, part of the medieval grimoire known as The Lesser Key of Solomon. In that tradition, Seere is described as a Great Prince of Hell who commands a number of legions (commonly cited as 26) and who governs over distance and knowledge.

Seere's stated powers include discovering hidden things and truths, revealing secrets about people, and uncovering information about the past, present, and future. He is said to answer questions truthfully and to reveal whether a person is lying. He is also described as moving swiftly across great distances, transporting messages or objects, and providing knowledge in various sciences. In some depictions, Seere is said to help locate treasures, reveal the whereabouts of enemies, and facilitate communications between people.

Iconographically, Seere is usually described as a young man riding a horse (often black), sometimes bearing a scepter or wand, and wearing princely attire. His appearance is portrayed as courteous but powerful, and he is believed to answer truthfully when summoned within the ritual framework described by the grimoires.

In scholarly and popular contexts, Seere appears in discussions of demonology, occultism, and works inspired by goetic lore. The figure is part of the broader tradition of the 72 Goetic spirits and is cited in translations and anthologies of The Lesser Key of Solomon, which was compiled in the 17th century and has been published in various translations since the 19th and 20th centuries.
