Seelands, also known as the Sealand, is a self-declared sovereign microstate located on a former fishing platform approximately 10 kilometers off the coast of the United Kingdom. The platform, known as the "Sealand One," was originally constructed in 1967 by a British engineer, John McGeorge, as a private residence. In 1968, McGeorge declared the platform an independent nation, naming it Sealand, and began issuing passports to residents. The microstate has a population of around 20 people, including McGeorge and his family, as well as a few other residents who have chosen to live there.
