Seedanalog
Seedanalog is a term used in botany and horticulture to describe seed-like propagules or systems that perform the main functional roles of seeds without being true seeds. A seedanalog is designed to protect embryonic or meristematic tissue during storage and dispersal, provide a reservoir of resources, and respond to germination cues to initiate development, while not necessarily containing a fertilized embryo in the classical sense. The concept is used to broaden options in propagation, conservation, and restoration when sexual reproduction is less reliable or slower.
Seedanalog forms include encapsulated somatic embryos (often called synthetic seeds) produced in tissue culture and immobilized
Applications span commercial horticulture, forestry, and conservation biology. Seedanalogs can facilitate clonal propagation of elite varieties,
