This is directly related to the depth of field, which is the range of distances from the camera at which objects appear acceptably sharp.

In practical terms, a shallow sebességmélység means that only a narrow slice of the scene will be in focus, with everything else blurring out. This is often achieved using a wide aperture (low f-number) on the lens. A shallow sebességmélység can be used to isolate a subject, draw the viewer's attention to a specific element, or create a sense of intimacy.

Conversely, a deep sebességmélység signifies that a much larger portion of the scene, from foreground to background, will be in sharp focus.
