Seadustest is a term used in environmental science and maritime engineering to describe a set of measurements and procedures aimed at quantifying sea spray dust deposition and its effects on surfaces, ecosystems, and air quality. The word combines sea spray, dust, and test, reflecting its focus on coastal aerosols and their behavior.

Typical seadustest practice includes collecting sea spray aerosols with air samplers, capturing dry deposition on collectors, and analyzing chemical composition (chloride, sodium, sulfate, magnesium, calcium, trace metals). Measurements may yield deposition fluxes, mass loading rates, and spatial or seasonal patterns, often alongside meteorological data.

No single global standard governs seadustest, and protocols vary by research group or industry. Studies may draw on established salt exposure or aerosol sampling techniques, adapting them to coastal contexts. Field campaigns occur in harbors, beaches, and offshore platforms, while laboratory simulations might recreate marine conditions to study deposition effects on materials.

Applications include evaluating corrosion risk for offshore structures, informing coastal construction and material selection, supporting environmental impact assessments, and contributing to climate and transport studies of marine aerosols.
