Scuol

Scuol is a municipality in the Lower Engadine (German: Unterengadin) valley in the Grisons, Switzerland. It is the capital of the Lower Engadine district and a popular tourist destination known for its spa facilities and its location within the Swiss National Park. The village is situated on the right bank of the Inn River.

Historically, Scuol has been a center for salt production and trade, leveraging its proximity to salt mines. The Engadine region, including Scuol, is characterized by its unique Rhaeto-Romanic language and culture. While German is now widely spoken, Romansh, particularly the Engadin dialect, remains an important part of the local identity and is an official language in the canton.
