Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger (born July 30, 1947) is an Austrian-American actor, producer, businessman, and former politician. He rose to prominence as a professional bodybuilder, winning the Mr. Olympia title seven times, and later achieved international fame as a leading actor in Hollywood.

Schwarzenegger began his film career in the early 1980s with Conan the Barbarian (1982) and attained iconic status as the Terminator in The Terminator (1984). He remained a top action star in films such as Total Recall (1990) and Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), as well as comedies like Twins (1988) and Kindergarten Cop (1990). He also appeared in later action franchises, including The Expendables series.

He served as the 38th Governor of California from 2003 to 2011, after winning a recall election against incumbent Gray Davis. His tenure emphasized fiscal restraint and climate policy, including signing the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while pursuing economic and infrastructure reforms.

Born in Thal, Styria, Austria, Schwarzenegger immigrated to the United States to pursue bodybuilding and later acting. He married journalist Maria Shriver in 1986; the couple separated in 2011, and their divorce was finalized later. They have four children. He also acknowledged a son born in 1997 with a member of his household staff.
