Schumpeteri

Schumpeteri is a taxonomic name that may be encountered in discussions of biological nomenclature. It is formed in honor of the economist Joseph Schumpeter and can function as either a placeholder epithet in species names or, less commonly, as the basis for a proposed genus.

In nomenclature, epithet formation from a person’s name often uses the suffix -i to create “schumpeteri” as a species epithet within an established genus. The use of such an epithet does not by itself establish a distinct taxon; it relies on the genus to which it is attached.
