Schimmelresistente
Schimmelresistente is a term used to describe materials or products that resist mold growth. It is commonly used in German-speaking markets to indicate that a coating, substrate, or fabric has been formulated to inhibit the growth of fungi in damp conditions. Resistance to mold is typically achieved through one or more of the following approaches: incorporation of antimicrobial or fungicidal additives; reduction of moisture uptake by the material; and creation of surfaces that are less hospitable to fungal growth through low porosity or altered texture.
Applications include paints and wallpapers with mold inhibitors, drywall and cement boards designed for bathrooms or
Claims of mold resistance are usually supported by laboratory tests and intermediate or field evaluations conducted
Limitations: mold resistance does not guarantee mold will never develop; persistent or extreme moisture will overcome
