Scatters

Scatters is the plural form of scatter and appears in scientific and analytical language to refer to multiple scattering events or the dispersion of waves, particles, or data points as they interact with matter, fields, or environments.

In physics, scattering describes deflection of a particle or wave from its straight path by collisions with atoms or by interactions with electromagnetic fields. Scattering events can be elastic or inelastic and are modeled with cross sections and angular distributions. The term "scatters" may denote individual events or the processes studied in experiments and simulations.

In data analysis, scatter plots depict the relationship between two variables; while "scatter" is the common term, "scatters" may be used to refer to collections of plotted points or to multiple plots comparing different samples. In astronomy and atmospheric science, scattering by dust, gas, or plasma affects observations and signals. Interstellar scattering and Rayleigh or Mie scattering broaden images and cause scintillation.
