Scannertyp

Scannertyp is a term used to denote the category or class of a scanner device or scanning approach. While not a standardized term in English technical literature, it is sometimes used in product documentation, catalogs, or multilingual contexts as a label for the specific type of scanner. The concept focuses on the method by which data is captured, the form factor of the device, and the intended application, rather than on a particular model.

Common scanner types include hardware-based categories: flatbed scanners, which offer a large, glass surface for scanning documents and photos; sheet-fed scanners, which feed pages automatically; drum scanners, used for high-end professional imaging; film scanners for negatives and slides; and handheld or pen scanners for portable use. In addition, 3D scanners extend the idea to geometry capture rather than flat imaging. For barcode and document workflows, scannertyp often corresponds to 1D versus 2D imaging scanners, or to fixed-mount versus handheld configurations.
