Savófehérje

Savófehérje, commonly known as whey protein, is a complete protein derived from milk. It is one of the two primary proteins found in milk, the other being casein. Whey protein is a byproduct of the cheese-making process. When milk is coagulated during cheese production, the liquid portion that separates from the curds is whey. This liquid is then processed to isolate and purify the protein content.

Whey protein is highly valued for its rich amino acid profile, containing all nine essential amino acids that the human body cannot produce on its own. It is particularly high in branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), such as leucine, isoleucine, and valine, which are crucial for muscle protein synthesis and repair. Due to its rapid digestion and absorption rate, whey protein is often consumed post-exercise to aid in muscle recovery and growth.

There are several forms of whey protein available, including whey concentrate, whey isolate, and whey hydrolysate. Whey concentrate contains a lower percentage of protein and higher levels of carbohydrates and fats. Whey isolate undergoes further processing to remove most of the remaining carbohydrates and fats, resulting in a higher protein concentration. Whey hydrolysate is pre-digested, meaning it is broken down into smaller peptides, allowing for even faster absorption. Savófehérje is widely used in sports nutrition supplements, but it is also found in various food products like protein bars, shakes, and baked goods.
