Saurer
Saurer is a Swiss industrial group with a long history in textile machinery and, in earlier decades, in heavy vehicle manufacturing. The company originated in 1853 when Heinrich Saurer established a workshop in Uzwil, Switzerland, to manufacture textile machinery. It grew into a leading supplier of spinning machines, winders, and related equipment, and expanded its product lines and global sales network during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In the first half of the 20th century, Saurer diversified into automotive engineering, producing trucks, buses, and diesel engines. The vehicle activities contributed to the Swiss and European commercial-vehicle market, while the textile machinery unit continued to develop technologies for spinning, fiber processing, and automation.
In the latter half of the 20th century, the company restructured to emphasize its core textile machinery
