Saturaatiopistettä, often translated as saturation point, refers to the state where no more of a substance can dissolve into a solvent at a given temperature and pressure. When a solution reaches its saturation point, it is considered saturated. Adding any more solute will result in it remaining undissolved, typically settling at the bottom of the container or forming a solid layer.

The saturation point is a crucial concept in chemistry, particularly in areas like solution preparation, crystallization, and environmental science. It is dependent on several factors, including the identity of the solute and solvent, temperature, and pressure. For most solid solutes in liquid solvents, solubility increases with temperature, meaning the saturation point is higher at higher temperatures. Pressure has a more significant effect on the solubility of gases, with higher pressures leading to greater solubility.
