Sarangkot

Sarangkot is a hill and popular tourist viewpoint in the Kaski District of Gandaki Province, Nepal. Located northwest of Pokhara, it rises to roughly 1,500 to 1,600 meters above sea level and is accessible by road from the city. The site has become a focal point for sunrise viewing and adventure tourism, attracting locals and international visitors alike.

From its summit, Sarangkot offers panoramic sightlines over the Pokhara Valley with the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges visible on clear days. The famous Machapuchhare, or Fishtail, peak is often visible on the horizon. Weather conditions can vary, and visibility is best on dry, clear mornings.

In addition to sightseeing, Sarangkot is a major base for paragliding, with flights taking off from the hill and landing near Pokhara or on the lakeside. The area also serves as a gateway for treks into the Annapurna foothills, and several lodges and viewpoints cater to visitors. Infrastructure includes a winding road and a cluster of guesthouses at the top, along with basic facilities.

Access to Sarangkot from Pokhara takes about 30 to 45 minutes by road, depending on traffic and road conditions. The site experiences seasonal crowds, particularly at sunrise; visitors are advised to arrive early and prepare for changeable weather.
