Sapromyzids

Sapromyzids are a family of flies belonging to the order Diptera. This family, also known as the Lauxaniidae, is a relatively large group of acalyptrate flies found worldwide. They are typically small to medium-sized insects, often exhibiting dull coloration, though some species can be more brightly colored. Their morphology is generally characterized by a robust body, often somewhat flattened. The head usually has prominent eyes and distinct antennae.
