SaphenafemoralisVerbindung
The saphenofemoral junction is an anatomical landmark in the human body where the great saphenous vein, the longest vein in the body, connects with the femoral vein. This junction is located in the upper thigh, near the groin. It is a critical point for venous drainage of the superficial system of the leg into the deep venous system. The great saphenous vein originates from the dorsal venous arch of the foot and ascends along the medial side of the leg and thigh. Its confluence with the femoral vein at the saphenofemoral junction is marked by the saphenous opening, an anatomical aperture in the fascia lata.
Understanding the saphenofemoral junction is important in various medical contexts, particularly in vascular surgery and radiology.
