Sanoatda

Sanoatda is the locative case form of the Uzbek noun sanoat, meaning industry. It is used to indicate location, domain, or field of activity, roughly translating to “in the industry” or “within industry.” The form appears in economic, policy, and technical texts when discussing conditions, activities, or developments that take place within the industrial sector. For plural references, the form becomes sanoatlarda (“in the industries”).

Etymology and formation: sanoat derives from Persian/Arabic san’at, a root meaning craft, skill, or art, which has become the standard Uzbek term for industry. The locative suffix -da attaches to the noun, producing sanoatda to express “in the industry.” The plural locative form is sanoatlarda.

Usage notes: Sanoatda is commonly found in news reports, statistical analyses, and policy documents that address industrial activity, manufacturing trends, or sector-specific questions. It often appears alongside verbs and adjectives that describe change, growth, or challenges within the industrial sector, for example, “sanoatda o‘sish ko‘rsatkichlari” (growth indicators in the industry) or “sanoatda modernizatsiya jarayoni” (the process of modernization in the industry).

Distinctions: Sanoatda should be distinguished from sanoat (the noun “industry”) used in the nominative or general sense. Sanoatda emphasizes location or domain, rather than the industry as an abstract object.
