Sagedusriba

Sagedusriba is the Estonian term for a frequency band, the range of radio frequencies allocated for a particular service or application. It is defined by a lower and upper frequency, and the width between them is called bandwidth. In practice, sagesusriba is used to describe portions of the radio spectrum that are managed to minimize interference and enable various services such as broadcasting, mobile communications, satellite, aviation, maritime, public safety, and amateur radio.

Allocation and regulation of sageusriba occur within an international and national framework. The ITU coordinates global spectrum allocations and interference coordination, while national regulators issue licenses, develop band plans, and set technical limits such as permissible emission types, power, and channel spacing. These rules ensure coexistence among different services and efficient use of the spectrum.

Common bands and examples include low-frequency (LF, 30-300 kHz), medium-frequency (MF, 300 kHz-3 MHz), high-frequency (HF, 3-30 MHz), very high frequency (VHF, 30-300 MHz), ultra high frequency (UHF, 300 MHz-3 GHz), super high frequency (SHF, 3-30 GHz), and extremely high frequency (EHF, 30-300 GHz). Some bands are licensing exempt or shared, such as parts of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands used for Wi-Fi and other ISM applications.

Technical and practical considerations include propagation characteristics, interference protection, and spectrum efficiency. Lower bands generally cover longer distances with different propagation conditions, while higher bands offer higher data rates but are more sensitive to obstacles and atmospheric conditions.
