SafranTurbomeca

SafranTurbomeca, also known as Turbomeca, is a French aerospace company. It was a part of the SNECMA Group, a French aircraft engine manufacturer. In 2000, the company became a division of SNECMA.

SafranTurbomeca is a leading global designer, manufacturer, and supplier of helicopter and turboshaft engines. They provide a wide range of engines, spanning from low-power, gas-generating turbines to the highly-powered, high-compressor pressure-ratio turbines.

Their products are used exclusively by the French armed forces and international customers. Turbomeca has a considerable presence on the global helicopter market and supplies over 40 different models of helicopters with their engines. Many of these helicopter engines are overhauled and repaired at SafranTurbomeca facilities worldwide, contributing to their maintenance and support of the global helicopter fleet.

SafranTurbomeca has development partnerships with a range of major aeronautical companies such as Eurocopter, Sikorsky, B. Kellett Helicopter, New Zealand's Kaman Helicopter, and Westland Helicopters. The turf and military development deals account for a significant portion of the business, providing the company an unparalleled level of coverage in the turbine market.

SafranTurbomeca joined its parent company, SNECMA, in 2005 to become part of the newly formed Snecma (SAfran) Group, the world's 10th largest aerospace industry firm. This grouping resulted in the creation of S.A.F.R.A.N. S.N.E.C.M.A. Engineering (Snecma's name change right before going Safran).
