Safran

Safran is a French multinational corporation that specializes in aerospace, defense, and security. It was created in 2005 through the merger of Snecma, a manufacturer of aircraft engines, and Sagem, a producer of avionics and defense systems. The company is headquartered in Paris and is listed on Euronext Paris, where it is a component of the CAC 40 index.

Safran operates through three main business lines. Safran Aircraft Engines designs and manufactures civil and military aircraft engines. Safran Aircraft Equipment provides aircraft equipment such as landing gear, nacelles, and related systems. Safran Identity & Security develops biometric and secure-document solutions for civilian and government customers, including identity verification, passports, and other secure credentials.

A notable program within the propulsion sector is the CFM International LEAP engine, co-developed with GE Aviation. The LEAP powers several modern single-aisle aircraft, including the Airbus A320neo family and the Boeing 737 MAX. Safran’s equipment division supplies landing gear and related components to a wide range of commercial and regional aircraft. In security, Safran Identity & Security markets technologies for identity verification, authentication, and secure document production.

Safran maintains a global manufacturing and R&D footprint with operations in numerous countries. The group collaborates with major aircraft manufacturers and defense clients, emphasizing propulsion efficiency, lightweight materials, and advanced security technologies to remain a leading supplier in the international aerospace and defense industries.
