SUKMA
SUKMA, or the Sports Week of the National Education, is an annual national sports event in Indonesia. It is organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia and is held every year in September. The event aims to promote physical education, sports, and healthy lifestyles among students across the country. SUKMA is a multi-sport event that includes various disciplines such as athletics, swimming, badminton, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, sepak takraw, and others. The competition is divided into several categories based on age and gender, with participants ranging from elementary school to high school level. The event is held in different cities across Indonesia each year, with the host city chosen based on the availability of facilities and the willingness of the local government to support the event. SUKMA is not only a platform for students to showcase their athletic talents but also an opportunity for them to learn about teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The event is broadcasted live on national television and is attended by thousands of spectators, both from Indonesia and abroad. SUKMA has been held since 1982 and has become one of the most anticipated sports events in Indonesia. The event has also been recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as a model for other countries to organize similar sports events.
