STS1
STS1, commonly referred to as STS-1, was the first orbital test flight of NASA’s Space Shuttle program and the first space mission for Space Shuttle Columbia. It launched from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on April 12, 1981, and landed at Edwards Air Force Base, California, on April 14 after about two days in orbit. The mission represented the first full demonstration of the shuttle as a reusable spacecraft designed to launch, operate in space, and return to Earth for later use.
