SLSmenetelmässä

SLSmenetelmässä refers to the Finnish term for the "SLS method". SLS stands for Selective Laser Sintering, a type of additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing. In this process, a high-power laser selectively fuses powdered material, such as plastic, metal, or ceramic, layer by layer. The laser traces a cross-section of the object onto the powder bed, solidifying the material where it strikes. After a layer is complete, the build platform is lowered, and a new layer of powder is spread over the top. This process is repeated until the entire object is formed.

The SLS method is known for its ability to produce complex geometries and intricate designs that would be difficult or impossible to create with traditional manufacturing techniques. It does not require support structures in the same way as some other 3D printing methods, as the unsintered powder acts as a natural support for the object during the build process. This can lead to greater design freedom and efficiency.

Parts produced using SLSmenetelmässä are often characterized by their good mechanical properties and surface finish, although post-processing, such as cleaning and surface treatment, may be required depending on the application. The materials used in SLS are typically thermoplastics, but advancements have also made it suitable for metals and ceramics, expanding its applications across various industries including aerospace, automotive, medical, and consumer goods.
