SKGcertificering

SKGcertificering is a security certification scheme used to verify the resistance of locking systems, door fittings and related hardware against burglary methods. The scheme is administered by SKG, a foundation that assesses security products intended for homes and buildings. Products that meet the SKG criteria may carry the SKG mark and a star rating, indicating the level of security achieved.

The certification process involves submitting product samples to accredited testing laboratories for tests that simulate common attack techniques such as picking, drilling, forced entry and other burglary methods. In addition to product testing, a factory production control review may be conducted to ensure that manufacturing processes maintain consistent quality. If the product passes, SKG issues a certificate of conformity and authorizes the use of the SKG mark. The star rating, typically ranging from 1 to 3 stars, provides a comparative indication of security strength.

Certified products are subject to ongoing surveillance and periodic re-testing to maintain certification. Any substantial changes to the product design or production process may require retesting and potential renewal of certification. The SKG mark is widely recognized by manufacturers, distributors, installers and consumers in the Benelux market and is often used as a purchasing criterion in construction and renovation projects.

SKGcertificering is distinct from CE marking. While CE marks indicate conformity with applicable European directives, SKG certification provides an independent assessment of security performance. The criteria reference European security standards in general terms, but the SKG framework is defined and administered by SKG.
