SAEASME

SAEASME, abbreviation for the Society for the Advancement of Engineering, Applied Science, and Mechanical Engineering, is an international non-profit professional association and standards organization. Its mission is to advance engineering knowledge, promote best practices, and enhance public safety by developing technical standards, accrediting programs, and supporting professional education. It serves engineers in industry, academia, and government.

Founded in 2003 through the merger of two regional societies, SAEASME established its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, with regional offices in North America and the Asia-Pacific region. It comprises hundreds of engineering societies, corporate partners, and individual members across more than 50 countries.

Activities include standards development across mechanical engineering, aerospace, energy systems, and related disciplines; professional certification programs; continuing education; and conferences. It publishes peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and a standards catalog, and maintains an online repository of technical resources.

Governance: a board of directors elected from member societies, an executive director, and standing committees for Standards Development, Ethics, Certification, and Research. The federation administers a global accreditation program and supports mentorship and student chapters to foster early-career engineers.

Impact: SAEASME aims to harmonize engineering practices worldwide, facilitate cross-border collaborations, and influence policy related to engineering education and public safety. It maintains partnerships with universities, industry consortia, and other standards organizations to advance shared goals.
