Sähkökytkettävyyttä

Sähkökytkettävyyttä, often translated as electrical conductivity or electroconductivity, is a fundamental property of materials that quantifies their ability to conduct electric current. It is the reciprocal of electrical resistivity. Materials with high electrical conductivity allow electric charge to flow easily through them, while materials with low conductivity impede the flow of charge.

The conductivity of a material is determined by the number of free charge carriers (typically electrons in metals) and their mobility. Metals like copper, silver, and gold are excellent electrical conductors due to their abundant free electrons. Semiconductors, such as silicon and germanium, have conductivity values between those of conductors and insulators, and their conductivity can be significantly altered by factors like temperature or the addition of impurities (doping). Insulators, like rubber and glass, have very few free charge carriers and thus exhibit very low electrical conductivity.

Electrical conductivity is an important parameter in many scientific and engineering applications, including the design of electrical circuits, the development of electronic devices, and the study of material properties.
