The type of electrode and shielding gas used depends on the welding process, such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW, also known as MIG welding), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW, also known as TIG welding). Each process offers different advantages in terms of speed, weld quality, and material suitability.
