Röntgeniallase
Röntgeniallase is a hypothetical element proposed by Glenn T. Seaborg in 1945. Seaborg suggested that this element, with atomic number 120, would be the first element in the eighth period of the periodic table, belonging to the alkaline earth metals group. He speculated that its properties would be similar to other alkaline earth metals like barium and radium, but with relativistic effects potentially influencing its chemical behavior. The name "röntgeniallase" was derived from Wilhelm Röntgen, the discoverer of X-rays, and the Greek word "allasein," meaning "to change," hinting at the potential for unique chemical properties due to relativistic effects.
