Rõhkkadudel

Rõhkkadudel refers to a specific type of meteorological phenomenon observed in Estonia and surrounding regions, generally translated as "high-pressure ridge" or "ridge of high pressure". It signifies an elongated area of relatively high atmospheric pressure that is more or less isolated from a larger high-pressure system. These ridges often form between two low-pressure systems.

The presence of a rõhkkadudel typically brings stable weather conditions. Skies are often clear or only partly cloudy, and precipitation is infrequent. Temperatures can be moderate, but depending on the season and the origin of the air mass within the ridge, they can also be quite warm or cold. During summer, rõhkkadudel can lead to periods of dry and sunny weather. In winter, they can be associated with cold, clear nights, potentially leading to frost or ice formation due to radiative cooling.
