Rákköd

Rákköd is a Hungarian term that translates to "crab nebula" or "lobster nebula." It is not a specific astronomical object but rather a descriptive term that can be applied to certain celestial phenomena that resemble a crab or lobster in shape. These nebulae are often vast clouds of gas and dust in space, illuminated by nearby stars or energized by stellar remnants.

Historically, the term may have been used informally by astronomers or laypeople to describe visually striking nebulae that exhibited such characteristics. While there isn't a formally designated "Rákköd" in astronomical catalogs, the visual resemblance of some nebulae to these crustaceans has led to their descriptive names. For instance, the Crab Nebula (M1), a well-known supernova remnant, is sometimes referred to by its Hungarian equivalent.

The formation of nebulae that might evoke the image of a crab or lobster typically involves processes like stellar death. Supernova explosions, for example, can expel vast amounts of material in complex, filamentary patterns that, from certain angles, can appear organic or even resemble creatures.
