Conversely, social loafing describes the tendency for individuals to exert less effort when working in a group compared to when working alone, especially on tasks where individual contributions are not easily identifiable. Groupthink is a dangerous group effect where the desire for harmony or conformity in a group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome. Members of the group may suppress dissenting opinions to avoid conflict, leading to flawed conclusions.
