Ruokajärjestys
Ruokajärjestys, often translated as "food order" or "food chain," is a fundamental ecological concept that describes the feeding relationships between organisms in an ecosystem. It illustrates the flow of energy from one trophic level to another. At the base of most ruokajärjestys are producers, typically plants, algae, or some bacteria, which create their own food through photosynthesis. These organisms convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of organic compounds.
Primary consumers, also known as herbivores, occupy the next level. They feed directly on producers, obtaining
In many ecosystems, there are also decomposers, such as bacteria and fungi, which play a crucial role.
