Rundungsmodus
Rundungsmodus refers to the method or rule used to determine the resulting value when a number is rounded. When a number falls exactly halfway between two representable values, a specific protocol is followed to decide which value to round to. Common rounding modes include rounding half up, rounding half down, rounding half towards zero, rounding half away from zero, and rounding half to even.
Rounding half up is perhaps the most intuitive and commonly taught method, where numbers exactly halfway are
Rounding half down, conversely, rounds halfway numbers to the smaller magnitude. So, 2.5 would round to 2,
Rounding half towards zero rounds halfway numbers in the direction of zero. This means 2.5 rounds to
Rounding half away from zero rounds halfway numbers in the opposite direction of zero, meaning to the
Rounding half to even, also known as banker's rounding, is a common default in many computing environments.
