Ruisrespons

Ruisrespons, literally meaning "noise response," is a concept in signal processing and related fields that describes how a system reacts to random input signals. It analyzes the statistical properties of the output when the input is noise, rather than a fixed waveform.

In linear time-invariant systems, the input-output relationship for stochastic signals is described by the transfer function H(f) and the input power spectral density S_in(f). The output power spectral density is S_out(f) = |H(f)|^2 S_in(f), and the autocorrelation of the output is the inverse Fourier transform of S_out(f). For time-domain description, the system's impulse response h(t) characterizes how an impulse noise component is reproduced.

Ruisrespons can be evaluated with measures such as the output variance, signal-to-noise ratio, and total output noise power. Engineers distinguish white-noise responses, where the input spectrum is flat, from colored-noise responses, where the spectrum varies with frequency. In nonlinear or nonstationary systems, the concept extends with higher-order statistics and time-varying transfer characteristics.

Applications include electronic circuitry design, sensor performance analysis, communication system engineering, and audio or image processing, where understanding the noise response guides filtering, shielding, and noise mitigation strategies.
