Rrating, commonly written as an R rating, is a classification in the United States film rating system administered by the Motion Picture Association (MPA), formerly the MPAA. It indicates that the film contains material that may be unsuitable for children and that access is restricted to viewers aged 17 and older, unless accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. The designation is advisory rather than a legal restriction, and individual theaters may apply their own policies.
