Rozsdna

Rozsdna is a village in the fictional country of Eldoria, in the Rusthollow region. It lies on the banks of the Rozdrin River, about 20 kilometers north of the regional capital. The landscape is a mix of loamy fields and deciduous forests, with a temperate climate.

The name Rozsdna derives from the Slavic root roz- meaning rust, a reference to the ironworks that once operated nearby.

The village was established in the 14th century as a farmstead serving a nearby market town. In the 17th and 18th centuries, Rozsdna hosted a small iron foundry and charcoal yards, which attracted workers and led to a gradual increase in settlement. The arrival of the railway in 1902 linked Rozsdna to larger urban centers; production declined after World War II, and the community shifted toward agriculture and light manufacturing.

Population and economy: The village has around 450-500 residents. The economy relies on crop farming (corn and potatoes), small-scale livestock, forestry, and artisanal crafts. A modest tourism sector centers on heritage buildings and scenic river views.

Culture and landmarks: A 19th-century water mill, the Saint Florian Chapel, and a stone arch bridge are notable landmarks. An annual harvest festival and a village fair in late summer are central to community life.

Governance: Rozsdna is part of the municipal district of Valenwood and is represented by a local council within the district assembly.

Notable people: A local poet, Marek Toman, published a collection on village life.
