Rotorstyrning

Rotorstyrning, often translated as rotor control or rotor control system, refers to the mechanisms and principles by which the direction and stability of a rotorcraft, such as a helicopter, are managed. This system is crucial for the aircraft's ability to maneuver, hover, and maintain controlled flight. The primary components of a rotor control system include the rotor head, swashplate, and cyclic and collective pitch controls.

The swashplate is a vital part of rotor control. It is a component that translates the pilot's control inputs into changes in the pitch of the rotor blades. The swashplate typically consists of two parts: a stationary (lower) swashplate and a rotating (upper) swashplate. The stationary swashplate is connected to the helicopter's control linkages, receiving inputs from the pilot's cyclic and collective controls. The rotating swashplate, attached to the rotor mast, moves with the rotor blades. As the rotating swashplate tilts and moves up and down, it causes the pitch of each individual rotor blade to change in a specific sequence, thereby controlling the rotorcraft's movement.

Cyclic pitch control allows the pilot to tilt the rotor disc in any direction, causing the helicopter to move forward, backward, or sideways. This is achieved by changing the pitch of the rotor blades cyclically as they rotate. Collective pitch control, on the other hand, adjusts the pitch of all rotor blades simultaneously and equally. Increasing the collective pitch increases lift, causing the helicopter to ascend, while decreasing it causes it to descend. Understanding and manipulating rotorstyrning is fundamental to operating a rotorcraft effectively and safely.
