In two dimensions, the composition of two rotations about the same center results in a single rotation whose angle is the sum of the two angles. In three dimensions, the product of two rotations generally yields another rotation about some axis; the resulting orientation can be represented by rotation matrices or by quaternions. When multiple rotations are applied in sequence, the overall effect is studied within the framework of rotation groups and transformation composition, a context in which the notion of “rotationsrotations” can appear as a descriptive label for the process.
