Rotametrar

Rotametrar is a device used to measure the volumetric flow rate of fluids. It is an anemometer designed to measure the velocity of fluid flow by using the hair-like fibers based on the principle of vortex shedding. These fibers, when exposed to the flow of fluid, create swirling or eddy currents that increase the head loss in the fluid flow system and result in multiple points of separation or disconnection on the flow trajectory of the fluid, which is in turn measured by the device.

The rotametrar device measures the frequency of the vortex shedding by counting the speed at which the fibers are broken or entangled, and this frequency is used to calculate the flow rate. The principle is similar to that used in a hot wire anemometer, also based on measuring changes in fluid flow to determine flow rate. The significance of the device lies in its non-invasive nature, allowing users to measure the flow rate without disrupting the fluid flow itself.

Rotametrar is usually applied for measuring the flow of liquids and gases such as that used in gas and oil refineries, ships, tanks, pipelines, etc. The accuracy of the rotameter is usually higher than other devices. These devices also have the ability to be given a wide range of calibrations of flow and can measure condition of fluid flow conditions such as orifice meters can leave no pressure after the flow has been metered, making them a critical tool in installing new fluid flow systems for business managers.
