Rostrology

Rostrology is a pseudoscience that claims to interpret a person's character and future based on the features of their nose. The practice is not supported by scientific evidence and is considered a form of physiognomy, which is the assessment of character or personality from outward appearance.

Proponents of rostrology believe that different shapes, sizes, and placements of nose features can reveal specific traits. For example, a broad nose might be associated with generosity, while a long and thin nose could suggest intelligence. The bridge of the nose, the nostrils, and the tip are all considered significant in a rostrological reading. Certain beliefs link the size of the nostrils to the person's capacity for wealth or emotional expression.

The origins of rostrology are obscure, but it shares common ground with other ancient practices that sought to divine personality from physical attributes. Like other forms of physiognomy, it relies on subjective interpretations and lacks empirical validation. Modern scientific fields such as psychology and genetics offer evidence-based methods for understanding personality and behavior. Rostrology is generally regarded as a form of entertainment or a speculative belief system rather than a legitimate field of study.
