Rosetten

Rosetten is a term used in several disciplines to denote a circular, radiating pattern or a floral motif. The word derives from the French rosette, a diminutive of rose, and shares the sense of a circular design that resembles a small flower. In German contexts, Rosetten is frequently used as the plural form of rosette.

In botany and horticulture, a rosette refers to a plant growth form in which leaves radiate from a short central stem at or near soil level. This arrangement can help with light capture, protect the growing point, or conserve moisture in arid environments. Rosettes are common among perennial herbs and during seedling stages of many species. Examples include dandelions and many Primula species; the rosette may persist for years or transition to a taller flowering stalk as the plant matures.
