Rosaare

Rosaare is a rural municipality in the fictional nation of Nordhaven, located in the northern Lowlands. It lies in a broad river valley, about 60 kilometers south of Nordhaven's capital. The municipality covers roughly 32 square kilometers and has a population of about 4,800 residents. The name Rosaare appears in records from the 15th century; its etymology is unsettled, with scholars proposing derivations from words meaning “rose” and “meadow” or from a river-name element.

Rosaare developed as an agricultural community in the Middle Ages and gained municipal status in 1831. It is governed by a mayor and a nine-member municipal council elected every four years. The current mayor is Anika Sörensen.

The landscape consists of fertile farmland, small woodlands, and the Rosa River cutting through the valley. The climate is temperate maritime, with cool winters and mild summers.

The local economy emphasizes dairy farming, crop production, and small-scale light manufacturing. A growing segment is rural tourism, including hiking, cycling, and heritage trails.

Rosaare maintains a small town center with a church, a library, and a folk museum. The annual Rosa Flower Festival in late spring draws visitors from the surrounding region. Transportation includes regional roads and a nearby railway station, with regular bus connections to nearby towns.
