Rlapokbani

Rlapokbani is a municipality in the northern highlands of Veridia. It serves as the administrative seat of the Rlapokbani District and is situated along the Rla River. The name comes from the Veridian language, roughly meaning place at the bend of water.

Geography and climate: The town lies at about 900 meters above sea level, with a temperate climate and a bimodal rainfall pattern. Surrounding terrain includes terraced fields, conifer forests, and small settlements.

History: Founded in the 17th century by settlers from the Lowlands, Rlapokbani developed as a regional market town. It gained municipal status in the mid-19th century and has since diversified beyond agriculture.

Economy and demographics: The economy centers on agriculture—maize, beans, and highland coffee—alongside small-scale crafts and services. As of 2023, the population is approximately 12,000, with Veridian as the predominant language and a minority speaking neighboring dialects.
