Rivijäähdytys, a Finnish term, translates to "line cooling" or "serial cooling" and refers to a method of cooling where multiple cooling elements are arranged in a sequence or line. This configuration is commonly encountered in various engineering applications, particularly in thermal management systems. The principle involves passing a cooling medium, such as air or liquid, through a series of interconnected heat exchangers or radiators.

In this setup, the cooling medium enters the first element in the line, absorbs heat from the source, and then flows to the next element, where it continues the cooling process. This serial arrangement allows for a gradual reduction in temperature. The effectiveness of rivijäähdytys depends on factors such as the number of cooling elements, their design, the flow rate of the cooling medium, and the temperature difference between the source and the medium.
