Ringmur is a fictional coastal town and fortress in the northern realm of Eldoria, commonly referenced in fantasy literature and role-playing settings. The name derives from Old Norse ring and mur, reflecting its circular defensive enclosure.

Geography and layout: Ringmur sits on a natural crescent harbor along the Strait of Lura. The central old town is enclosed by a concentric stone wall, the Ringwall, with a single gate, the Gate of the Sea. The surrounding countryside is a mosaic of moor and small farms, linked by a network of lanes that radiate from the harbor.

History: Founded in the 11th century by seafaring settlers seeking refuge and trade, Ringmur grew as a trading port. The Ringwall was constructed in the 12th century and expanded during the 15th. The town profited from timber, ropeworks, and salt fisheries, endured sieges and fires, and in the 19th century upgraded its harbor and rail links. In the modern era it remains a regional hub for craft industries and tourism.

Governance and economy: Ringmur operates under a municipal charter and is governed by the Ringmur Council, which includes a mayor and planning board.
