Riigiaparaat

Riigiaparaat refers to the entire system of state institutions and bodies in Estonia responsible for carrying out governmental functions. It encompasses the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of power, as well as various administrative agencies and public organizations. The Riigiaparaat is tasked with implementing laws, managing public services, ensuring national security, and upholding the rule of law.

The legislative branch is represented by the Riigikogu, the unicameral parliament of Estonia. The Riigikogu is responsible for drafting and approving laws, overseeing the government, and ratifying international agreements. The executive branch is headed by the Government of Estonia, led by the Prime Minister. The Government is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the state, proposing legislation, and implementing policies. It consists of various ministries, each responsible for a specific area of governance.

The judicial branch in Estonia is independent and consists of courts at different levels, from local courts to the Supreme Court. The courts interpret and apply laws, resolve disputes, and ensure justice. In addition to these core branches, the Riigiaparaat includes numerous other institutions such as the Office of the President, the National Audit Office, the Chancellor of Justice, and various government agencies and inspectorates that support and execute specific state functions. The overall aim of the Riigiaparaat is to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the Estonian state and the provision of services to its citizens.
