Ribersborg

Ribersborg is a district (stadsdel) of Malmö Municipality in Skåne County, Sweden. It is situated on the western coast of Malmö, along the Øresund, and forms part of the city’s waterfront area.

Ribersborg combines residential neighborhoods with extensive public outdoor spaces. The best known features are Ribersborg Beach (Ribersborgsstranden) and Ribersborg Park (Ribersborgsparken), a long green space that runs parallel to the shoreline. The beach is a popular destination for swimming, walking, and picnicking, and the park provides lawns, woodlands, and trails.

History: The area was historically rural and agricultural but began urbanizing in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The development of the beach and park transformed the district into a major recreational zone for Malmö’s residents.

Facilities and landmarks: The coastline hosts a public bathhouse, known as Kallbadhuset, as well as promenades, cafés, and playgrounds. The combination of beach, park, and urban amenities makes Ribersborg a year-round leisure site for residents and visitors.

Access and transport: Ribersborg is connected to central Malmö by road and is served by the city’s public transport network. It is reachable by bus, and from central Malmö it is a short travel distance depending on mode of transport.

Ribersborg’s coastal setting, parklands, and recreational facilities contribute to its reputation as a green, coastal district close to the city center.
