Rezervimet

Rezervimet are arrangements to secure access to a service, space, or resource for a specified time or date, to ensure availability. They are used in many sectors: travel, hospitality, dining, events, and services. A reservation may be provisional (pending confirmation) or confirmed, and in some cases it can require a deposit or payment to guarantee.

Making a reservation can be done by phone, in person, or online via booking systems. Information usually required includes the name of the person, contact details, date and time, number of participants, and any preferences or special requests. Some reservations carry cancellation or modification policies; others may be non-refundable. Confirmations typically include a reference number.

Common types include travel bookings (flights, trains, car rentals), lodging (hotels, hostels, vacation rentals), dining reservations (tables at restaurants), event tickets, and appointments (medical, beauty, spa). Distinctions exist between prepaid reservations, pay-at-arrival, and free cancellation options.

Economic role: reservations help service providers plan capacity, optimize revenue, and reduce no-shows. Online reservations have grown with digital platforms, enabling real-time inventory, notifications, and mobile access. Overbooking and waitlists are sometimes used to manage demand.

Privacy and security: reservations involve collecting personal data and payment information; platforms must protect data and comply with privacy regulations, including encryption, secure payment processing, and data retention policies.

Etymology and usage: the term rezervimet (plural) is used in Albanian to refer to such arrangements, derived from the same root as reservations in many European languages, from Latin reservare, with adoption through European languages.
